He had quite a day today. The Dr. saw him early this morning and said he is doing well. He may have his final surgery late next week. He had rehab and PT both today. They wanted him sitting up with his legs over the side of the bed. He can't do it by himself yet but he did his best. He received more cards today and enjoyed reading them.
Then around 4:30 the "bus" came and took him to Heartland of Waterville for rehab. He will be there until the next surgery which will be done at St. Vincent's. One of the doctors talked to his daughter Kay today and said Tip is doing remarkably well. He also said in his opinion he will be able to do anything he did before the accident.
That is HUGE. I don't think any of us thought this would be possible.
He was resting around six oclock this evening so that he would be awake to watch the U of Toledo game against Arizona tonight on ESPN. He was supposed to be at the game. He's had season tickets for years.
He is at Heartland of Waterville, 8885 Browning, room 508. Take Antony Wayne Trail west through Waterville. Just beyond Farnsworth Park turn right on Neowash Rd. and then right again at Browning.
Well, at least your brother got to SEE the game! Holy cow, that man is not only lucky, he must have a will of steel. The news that he'll be able, eventually, to do what he did before the accident is tremendous!
ReplyDeleteJanet, this is amazing news. He will be running rings around the whole family. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update.

Janet - Thanks for the up-date. It sounds like Tip is making great progress. You and your family must be so relieved that he will make a 100 percent recovery.

Janet, I'm really pleased that Tip is doing so well. What a relief to know that he will be able to resume his usual activities at some point.

I am glad he is doing much better.
ReplyDeleteIt may seem like forever till he feels good but when his energy returns he will get better quickly.
My brother was considered a quadriplegic after his logging accident 20 years ago. since then he has raised his son as a single parent, drives himself everywhere and even races his car at the drag strip on occasion.
Good doctors and a positive attitude can get you anywhere.
