Dad continues to show improvement while in rehabilitation. He can move both legs together now which is huge! He says the legs "talk to each other" once again. Along with healing of all the surgery sights, the biggest challenge he faces each day is how to deal with laying in bed. Blaaa anybody that knows my dad knows he doesn't do well when he's not on the move & not in control! He is counting the days until his next doctor visit which is 9/28. Hopefully he'll get a good report and a time frame as to when he can begin putting pressure on his left leg & left arm.

To celebrate my birthday this weekend I am buying him a new TV, one with a remote. Hard to believe the facility doesn't have one, but they do not. Sunday we will share a special treat from the restaurant of his choice. He's supposed to be thinking about what food he's craving. So far, nothing has struck home! Wish us luck & pray for continued recovery!

Thanks:)

  1. Kay I know he is going crazy just laying in bed. He told me he just watches the clock hands move. I hope he gets some distractions.

I like your gift to him, I hadn't thought of that. Does he like to watch movies? I'd get him a DVD player and some movies or TV series that he likes. He has got to find something to occupy himself as he goes through the therapy.

It meant a lot to me that he called me last night to wish me a happy birthday. I was so surprised. Let me know about the DVD.

  2. Kay,

Linda from the blog here. Sounds like your Dad is really coming along. And the best thing he has his sense of humor.

When my mom broke here knee a few years back she was the same way but I told her that the more she takes her time, the faster she will heal correctly. And she did. Never had a problem with the knee again. She had this accident at 70.

There are also those hand held games of black jack and poker. Does he know how to play those games?

There are also audio books if he doesn't like to read books he might like to listen.

He and the family are in my thoughts.
